GET TO KNOW KAREN

Karen Burnett-Kurie's connection to and love for Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro, District 6's communities, runs deep.

Since a young child, she has spent her summers visiting her grandparents' summer cottages on Wawbeek Shore near Melvin Village. Being from a Navy family, returning here year after year gave her a sense of continuity, a "home base."

Later, Karen chose the University of New Hampshire for her undergrad degree, followed later by graduate school at Antioch New England in Keene.

After graduation, Karen spent most of her time living in New Hampshire, while working in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. This made it easy to return to Tuftonboro every summer.

Eventually, Karen made her way to Wolfeboro when she took a job as the first Executive Director of the Lake Wentworth Foundation (now known as the Wentworth Watershed Association).

An independent all of her life, Karen is running as a Democrat in the 2024 NH House of Representatives race because this aligns best with her values and positions.

Karen Burnett-Kurie is ready to be a leader who listens, and believes we achieve more when we face our challenges together.
